Mini ProgramMini Program

(2 – 5 years old)

For our youngest dancers! Open to students ages 2 - 5 years. The focus of our mini program is to offer a fun introduction to dance, while providing the necessary foundation to enter into either the Performance (Competitive) or Recreational program.

Tiny Toes
A fun introduction to ballet basics incorporating elements of creative movement and creative play. Students must be 3 years old by September 1st. Classes are 30min/week.

Preschool Ballet & Preschool Ballet/Tap combo
Creativity and age appropriate ballet technique are introduced. In the combo ballet/tap class students recieve weekly instruction in ballet and tap. Students must be 4 years old by September 1st or have completed one term of Tiny Toes. Classes are 45min/week.

Kinder Combo Classes
These 60 min classes provide instruction in two dance disciplines. 5 - 6 year olds may enrol in Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Jazz, and/or Ballet/Acro class. Classes are 60min/week.

12 week programming
Creative Duo a class suitable for 2 year olds. This parented class explores elements of Creative Dance through the use of song, incorporation of props and age appropriate movement games. Classes are 30min/week

Creative Dance is a fun introduction to the world of dance for 3 -4 year olds. Classes will introduce young dancers to themes such as levels, shapes and rhythms through the use of song and movement games. Classes are 30min/week


Recreational

(6+ years old)

RecreationalThe recreational program is designed for students age
6 years and older who take dance for fun and exercise. These students are able to register in as many classes
as they like per week including tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. These classes will perform in the annual recital in June. Students interested in jazz, tap or ballet exams
may be entered upon approval of the instructor.

Ballet
We offer ballet training in both the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association (CDTA) and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. Both syllabi provide our students with a strong technical and performance foundation. Classes range from 45min/week to 75min/week depending on age and level.Enrollement in Pointe work is available with teacher recommendation.

Pre-Pointe & Pointe Technique
Open to students in Grade 4 ballet or higher with teacher approval. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week. The Pre-Pointe class focuses on assisting dancers to develop the strength needed to begin pointe work. Pre-Pointe students do not require pointe shoes at the start of the class. Dancers must work towards teacher approval to purchase pointe shoes. Classes start at 30min/week.

Tap
Rhythmic patterns and timely beats are explored with the use of tap shoes. Based on the ADAPT dance syllabus. Classes are 45-60min/week.

Jazz
An upbeat class where flexibility and strength are put to use in high-energy choreography. We follow the ADAPT dance syllabus. Classes are 45-60min/week.

Acro Dance
This class combines elements from gymnastics, tumbling and jazz. Strengthening and flexibility are developed to help achieve tricks. Our instructors have undergone special certification in order to introduce this dance form safely. Acro tricks learned are incorporated into Jazz and Lyrical choreography. Dancers must be enrolled in a Ballet as well as a Lyrical or Jazz class at our studio. Classes are 60min/week.

Lyrical/Contemporary
A class that draws on ballet and jazz technique to tell a story or portray an emotion. Recreational Lyrical students must be a minimum of 12 years old. Students must be enrolled in a ballet and/or jazz class. Classes are 60min/week.

Competition Team

(6+ years old)

Perforamce TeamThis program is designed for students 6 years and older, wishing to make a stronger commitment to the study of dance. Depending on their age and level, students may be required to enrol in choreography as well as technique classes. These students are members of a special team of dancers that are given extra performance opportunities through participation in dance festivals in and around the Edmonton area. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of one ballet class/week and may also enrol in jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, modern/contemporary, musical theater, acro and/or hip hop. These students are also given the opportunity to participate in solo, duet, and small group work. These classes will also participate in our annual recital in June. Dance examinations in ballet, jazz and tap are strongly encouraged.

Jazz
An upbeat class where flexibility and strength are put to use in high-energy choreography. We follow the ADAPT dance syllabus. Classes are 45min/week to 75min/week for Juniors, 1.75hours/week to 2 hours/week for Pre-Intermediate levels, Intermediate level and higher train 2 hours/week.

Acro Dance
This class combines elements from gymnastics, tumbling and jazz. Strengthening and flexibility are developed to help achieve tricks. Our instructors have undergone special certification in order to introduce this dance form safely. Dancers must be enrolled in a Ballet as well as a Lyrical or Jazz class at our studio. Classes are 60min/week.
*Class day/time is by placement only.
Acro Dance is strongly encouraged for students enrolled in competitive jazz and ballet.

Hip Hop
Full of funky music and choreography. Classes are 60min/week.

Lyrical
A class that draws on ballet and jazz technique to tell a story or portray an emotion. Junior Lyrical students must be a minimum of 8 years old. Students must be enrolled in BOTH a ballet, and a jazz or jazz technique class. Classes are 60min/week.

Modern/Contemporary
This class explores Modern movement through study of Modern technique such as Horton and Simonson. Students must be a minimum of 10 years old and enrolled in a minimum of one ballet class/week. Classes are 60min/week.

Musical Theatre
Incorporates dancing, singing, and acting. Must also be enrolled in jazz at our school. Classes are 60min/week.

Adult

The adult program is designed for adults wanting to dance for fun and exercise. We currently offer classes in hip hop, tap, and jazz. With the exception of hip hop and advanced jazz, these classes do not perform in the annual recital in June. Our adult classes have been enjoyed by adults of all ages from 18 - 70 years old!!!

Hip Hop Competitive
Full of funky music and choreography. Our Adult Hip Hop class will take part in 2 - 3 dance festivals in and around the Edmonton area. This class also participates in our annual recital in June. *This class is offered as a 10 month session (Sep - June).

Advanced Jazz Competitive
A Jazz class for the experience and advanced adult jazz dancer. This class will focus on strength, flexibility and advanced jazz technique. Our Adult Advanced Jazz class will take part in 2 - 3 dance festivals in and around the Edmonton area, as well as participate in our annual recital in June. *This class is offered as a 10 month session (Sep-June).

12 WEEK SESSION CLASSES
The following classes are offered as Fall (Sep - Nov) and Winter (Jan - Mar) 12 week sessions.

Tap
Rhythmic patterns and timely beats are explored with the use of tap shoes. Based on the ADAPT dance syllabus. Some tap experience (present or past) is helpful, but not required.
