The recreational program is designed for students age 6 years and older who take dance for fun and exercise. These students are able to register in as many classes as they like per week including tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. These classes will perform in the annual recital in June. Students interested in jazz, tap or ballet exams may be entered upon approval of the instructor.
We offer ballet training in both the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association (CDTA) and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. Both syllabi provide our students with a strong technical and performance foundation. Classes range from 45min/week to 75min/week depending on age and level. Enrolment in Pointe work is available with teacher recommendation.
Pre-Pointe & Pointe Technique Open to students in Grade 4 ballet or higher with teacher approval. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week. The Pre-Pointe class focuses on assisting dancers to develop the strength needed to begin pointe work. Pre-Pointe students do not require pointe shoes at the start of the class. Dancers must work towards teacher approval to purchase pointe shoes. Classes start at 30min/week.
Rhythmic patterns and timely beats are explored with the use of tap shoes. Based on the ADAPT dance syllabus. Classes are 45-60min/week.
An upbeat class where flexibility and strength are put to use in high-energy choreography. We follow the ADAPT dance syllabus. Classes are 45-60min/week.
A class that draws on ballet and jazz technique to tell a story or portray an emotion. Recreational Lyrical students must be a minimum of 12 years old. Students must be enrolled in a ballet or jazz class. Classes are 60min/week.
